Ingredients

Oil -2 tbsp
Mustard -1 tsp
Shallots  -200 grams
Green chilli -2
Cumin  -1 tsp
Goat spleen/suvarotti - 2
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Chilli powder -1/2  tsp
Pepper powder -1/2 tsp
Garam masala  - 1/4 tsp
Coriander powder -1/2 tsp
Salt as required 
Curry leaves 
Coriander leaves

Suvarotti / goat spleen 



Fresh goat spleen that has been pared of its outer layer, sliced into equal pieces, and spiced. This can be consumed once a week to boost blood production and improve overall health.

Suvarotti  is highly limited to a small portion of goats that weigh less than 200 grams each, so if you truly want it, it is best to reserve in advance.

The name "suvarotti" comes from the fact that spleen naturally sticks to walls.

When we cut it, it bleeds, so be careful not to rinse it too often,excellent for treating anemia and good for pregnant ladies

How to cook suvarotti varuval, or goat spleen. 


  • Add oil to a kadai, add mustard allow it to crackle 
  • Then add in sliced shallot, green chilli and curry leaves and saute well till the onion turns translucent 
  • Add a little cumin for extra flavour 
  • Add masalas like turmeric powder, chilli powder, pepper powder,garam masala and coriander powder 
  • Add the chopped spleen or suvarotti and stir thoroughly until the masalas are thoroughly coated.
  • Add required salt and pour a little water 
  • Cook on a low to medium flame for 10 to 15 minutes, until spleen is thoroughly cooked
  • Finally add some coriander leaves and turn off the flame
  • Suvarotti varuval is ready to relish with hot rice

Prep work  

Clean and cut suvarotti



Slice shallot and green chili


To make suvarotti varuval


In a kadai, add oil, then add mustard,let it to crackle


 Add sliced shallot, curry leaves and sliced green chili, saute well


When the onion turns translucent, add the cumin and cook.



After that, add turmeric powder 


Add chili power


Add pepper powder 


Add Garam masala



Add coriander powder and mix well


 Time to add chopped goat spleen or suvarotti


Add required salt and saute well till everything is combined


Add a little water and cook on a low to medium flame for 10 to 15 minutes 


 When it is fully cooked add some coriander leaves and turn off the flame 



Goat spleen or Suvarotti varuval is ready to relish
