Kovakkai poriyal| ivy gourd stir fry recipe | tindora stir fry
Ingredients
- Oil - 3 tbsp
- Mustard - 1/2 tsp
- Cumin - 1/2 tsp
- Onion 🧅 - 2
- Ivy gourd /tindora/kovakkai -500 grams
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
- Chilli powder - 1/4 tsp
- Salt as required
- Coriander leaves
- Grated coconut - 2 tbsp
Instructions
Prep work
- Clean and wash the ivy gourd or kovakkai. Cut into roundels
- Cut the onion into slices and keep it aside
How to prepare stir-fried kovakkai
- Put some oil in a kadai, then add cumin and mustard.
- Add the sliced onion and curry leaves, and then cook.
- Next, add the kovakkai roundels or ivy gourd, and thoroughly mix.
- Cover the lid and cook on a medium flame for 10 to 15 minutes, stir occasionally, do not add water
- Add turmeric powder, chilli powder required salt and give a good mix
- Finally add coriander leaves and grated coconut and turn off the flame🔥
- Kovakkai poriyal is ready to serve with sambar rice, curd rice or rasam rice
Stir fried kovakkai with pictures
