Keerai thandu poriyal| stalk stir fry recipe

This is completely different from keerai poriyal because usually we cook leaves in keeri poriyal in this we are going to cook the stalk,thandu alone with the spices

Very healthy and nutritious food, very easy to make with vry simple ingredients



Keerai thandu


Stalk has many healthy nutritional benifits, cures ulcer, good for lever and has protine content, 

Ingredients

Oil -1 tsp
Mustard and dal -1 tsp
Curry leaves 
Keerai thandu/lettuce stalk - 4 cups
Cumin  - 1 tsp 
Garlic - 3
Green Chili - 2
coconut - 1/4 cup
Salt as required 

Instructions

  • Collect all the stalks/keerai thandu and chop finely like a roundels
  • Now place a kadai add oil, mustard, and dal, and let it crackle 
  • Add chopped keerai thandu/spinach stalk and mix well
  • Cook well stiring occasionally, sprinkle some water if required
  • Add cumin, garlic, and green chili to a jar and crush that, like a coarse paste
  • Add this to keerai thandu poriyal and cook till the raw smell disappears
  • Add required salt
  • Finally, add grated coconut and turn off the flame
  • Keerai thandu poriyal is ready to relish with rice-based recipes

Prep work 

Collect all the stalks from spinach/keerai and chop finely like roundels


Now place a kadai add oil, mustard, and dal, and let it crackle



Add keerai thandu and saute well on a medium to low flame


Add garlic, cumin, and green chili to a jar


Make a coarse paste


Add the ground paste to the poriyal and give a good mix


Add the required salt and stir well


Finally, add grated coconut and give a good mix then turn off the flame 


Healthy keerai thandu poriyal is ready to relish with rice.
