This masala  sundal recipe is a very famous Street food.This chaat is a perfect evening snack for everyone, also it is a healthy and nutritious snack. 



Ingredients 

1 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard
3 medium sized onion
4 tomatoes
A small piece of Ginger
7 to 8 garlic cloves 
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp coriander powder
3/4  tsp Garam masala
2 cup White peas/vellai pattani
Coriander leaves
Salt as required

Instructions

  • Rinse and soak white peas/vellai pattani for 12 hours or you can soak in hot water for 6 hours
  • Pressure cook the soaked vellai pattani for 7 to 8 whistles adding fresh water and required salt
  • Meanwhile, add sliced onion, tomato, ginger and garlic in a mixer jar and make a fine paste
  • Now place a pan, add oil, mustard once you hear the crackling sound of the mustard add onion, tomato, ginger, garlic paste that we grounded
  • Saute well till the raw smell disappears or saute well till the oil gets separated from the gravy
  • Add masalas like turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and garam masala as i mentioned in the ingredient list and saute well
  • Add boiled white peas/vellai pattani without straining them and bring it to boil for 5 minutes and turn off the flame
  • Street style masala sundal is ready to enjoy, and don't forget to add finely chopped onion and coriander leaves on the top of the sundal for best taste

Prep work



Rinse and soak white peas/vellai pattani for 12 hours or you can soak in hot water for 6 hours
