This recipe is fully packed with nutrients, which is very simple to make.This is going to be a one pot recipe which sounds even better. Lentil and vegetable that add a nutritional value to this recipe,
Adding vegetables is completely your choice,when cooked with dal it tastes delicious, healthy and simply tasty
We can serve this as a side dish or main dish. I usually make this recipe as a side dish for rasam.
Recipe Ingredients
- Moong dal -1/2 cup
- Oil -3 tbsp
- Mustard -1 tbsp
- Turmeric powder -1/4 tbsp
- Chilli powder -1 tbsp
- Shallot -10 nos
- Cumin -2 tbsp
- Coconut -1/4 cup
- Curry leaves
- Salt as required
- Water 2 cups
Vegetables
- Onion -1
- Tomato -5
- Drumstick -1
- Potato -1
- Carrot -1
- Brinjal -1
- Snake gourd-1
- Chow chow -1
- Beans -6
- Flat bean -6
Recipe instructions
Wash the moong dal/lentil well and add it to a pressure cooker then add water
Place the pressure cooker on the stove and turn on the flame
Then add all the chopped vegetables, turmeric powder and chilli powder
Close the lid and cook for one whistle on a low to medium flame, let the pressure release naturally
How to make coconut paste
Add coconut, cumin and shallot to a blender and make a fine paste
Now open the pressure cooker after the pressure is released
Turn on the stove, keep it in a low flame and add the ground paste, add required salt, then give a good mix. Cook for five minutes till the raw smell of cumin and shallot disappears
Finally season the curry for extra taste
A delicious and healthy curry is ready to serve with white rice or side dish for rasam rice.
